Designer Profile | Jason Luk

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Canada, Jason had the fortune of being able to pursue two lifelong passions. A background in Food and Nutrition has been a surprising asset to his own design practice, having recently graduated from OCAD University specializing in Industrial Design. Experience has taught Jason that there are always things to learn and he is always looking forward to facing these challenges head on.

Always doing things with a smile, Jason doesn’t take himself too seriously—but he never shies away from responsibility. While appreciating the various aspects of design, Jason’s core concern is to understand and address how an object, service or graphic affects the individual’s experience. Firmly placing people in the forefront of everything he undertakes, he is thankful for the experiences he’s had so far.

Earlier this year Jason’s WAVE Modular Food Storage Unit was selected as a winner at the Hettich International Design Award. The international judging panel selected his project among entries from over 50 countries and over 1 000 participants. As some of you may know, Jason also won the ideacious Award at the 2011 ACIDO Rocket Show for his React Bag (soon to be in preorder on the site).
